Christmas Carports

Everyone has that special someone on their Christmas list that is always difficult to buy for. The holiday standards like gift cards or socks just don’t cut it but they are also the person who has everything they could possibly need already.  Gag gifts seem lacking and larger gifts can feel like they don’t fit that person very well. We all have that kind of person on our list, which is why we are happy to introduce the idea of a Christmas Carport.

For the person on your list who has everything, do they have a carport? Is their garage a mess that can’t fit their cars? (read last week’s post about tips to de-clutter a garage.) Do they need enclosed storage space but don’t have any? Then its time you give them the gift they’ve needed but may have not thought about, a carport.

Why a Carport?

Carports are one of the most versatile gifts a person can get. Enclosed carports and steel buildings are great for storage and last for years in all types of weather. Open carports are perfect for protecting and storing cars from heaps of snow and rain, and steel garages make great hobby shops or places to store and work on old cars. You can read our post on five uses for carports here and see all the ways a carport makes the perfect gift.

A Place for Them

Enclosed carport, garages and barns are all sold here at Carport Empire and we suggest an enclosed steel building for that special person on your list. If they have a hobby that requires extra space, then a steel garage is perfect for woodworking, model train, and even gardening hobbies. Some men love the idea of a man cave as a special place for them. Why not give the gift of freedom and happiness this year with a man cave-ready metal storage building?

Storage

Carports also offer complete storage for those items that are taking up space in the garage or belong in the yard. While lawnmowers are needed for yard work, during the winter months, they take up space in the garage and can make an area look messy. To give the person on your list the gift of space and storage, get them an enclosed carport. Out in the yard, a steel building can be easily accessible and clear up space in the more trafficked areas of a home.

Christmas Carports

So if you have a person that is difficult to shop for on your Christmas list this year, think about getting them the gift of a versatile, all-weather, storage creating, personal space Christmas carport today.

4 Tips for De-cluttering Your Garage

It happens to all of us, we have a large garage that somehow has been packed with so much stuff that we just can’t fit our car anymore. If this has happened to you, we have four tips for de-cluttering your garage and creating a spacious area of your home that is organized as well as does its job… being a home to your garage.

1.       One Corner at a Time

De-cluttering a garage can be an all day task but if you don’t have that kind of time, or don’t want to feel overwhelmed, start your job with one corner at a time. Pick the corner closest to your home entry door and start by deciding what can be thrown away and what needs to be kept. Spare boxes from when you moved in a year ago can probably go to recycling while your snowboard and lawnmower most likely need to stay. Another thing to do is ask how often you use something, say the extra table you keep for guests. If you haven’t used it the whole time you’ve had it… its time to create some space by getting rid of it. If you have items like sporting equipment or furniture that you don’t’ use, you may consider having a garage sale. Then you can clean out those items, earn a little extra cash and prepare your garage for your car all in one swoop.

2.       Have a Garage Sale

Garage sales are a great way to earn some extra cash on those items that you no longer use but were somewhat expensive. We have several items like that, that we’ve held onto because we can’t bear to throw away that crock pot that cost $100 but we never use. A garage sale can ensure that the crock pot gets used by someone else and that you didn’t just throw $100 out for nothing. You’ve held onto these items because they are valuable, someone else might think so too.

3.       Purchase Storage Shelves

If you have a lot of smaller items or boxes that can’t be thrown away, it is a wise investment to looking into purchasing storage shelves or overheard storage racks. These items can make your garage feel organized while helping it look less cluttered. Overheard garage storage racks are great for seasonal items like those once-a-year Christmas boxes. Instead of those boxes taking up floor and car space, they can be placed overheard and out of the way.

4.       Get a Steel Garage

Steel garages can be used for a number of reasons (even to house cars,) but in this case, we suggest using them to store outdoor items like the snowboard, the Jet Ski, the bikes and the lawn mower. These items can’t be left outside and need to be stored where they will remain in good condition. However, they can take up a lot of space in a garage. To get the best of both worlds, get a small steel garage or shed for your back yard and place the items in there. And honestly, did you like moving all the cars and items out of the garage just to mow the lawn? Now it’s an easy pull out of the storage shed and you are good to go.

Your Garage

So the next time your garage is starting to look overwhelming and no longer fitting your car, go through these four easy steps and see how much less clutter your garage can actually have. What are your garage cleaning tips?

Four Areas that Metal Storage Sheds are Used

When I say the words “metal storage shed,” What do you think of? If you are like many people, you think of a metal shed in a green backyard on a home property that stores items like the lawnmower and maybe holiday decorations or that is home to a husband’s woodworking hobby shop. If those things are what first came to your mind, you are exactly right about what and where the majority of metal storage sheds are used. But did you know that there are precisely four main areas that metal storage sheds are used? Because metal sheds are created to store practically anything, they are often used to house more than the lawnmower, in fact they are used to store heavy machinery, work inventory, etc…

Home Use

As we said above, most metal storage sheds are used on residential properties to store a large variety of items. Some storage and metal garage owners use their sheds to store garden equipment (including the lawnmower,) as a hobby shop and even a play area for children. They are also used to store seasonal sporting equipment like snowboards, bicycles or wakeboards or have been used as a “Mancave” retreat for the men of the house. No matter what it is used for, as far as residential use goes, the metal storage shed is ideal for most storage, hobby or get-a-way family needs.

Commercial Use

When metal storage sheds are used for commercial purposes, they often are home to inventory and stock of retail stores. Sometimes a back room provides inadequate space for overstocked inventory items so a metal storage shed is purchased to protect and provide space for important retail items. Metal storage sheds can also be made with features of security cameras, so they items are protected throughout the evenings when a store may be closed.

Agricultural Use

In the agricultural community, metal storage sheds play a vital role in the maintaining of raw materials that have been forged in the field. They also house farming equipment or other equipment used to produce our food sources. Lastly, in the agricultural areas that produce dairy and beef, many larger metal storage sheds are used to protect animals from poor weather or extreme heat. Many storage sheds come with an available option of temperature control, perfect of housing animals or storing temperature sensitive materials.

Industrial Use

Metal storage sheds are made for many uses, including industrial ones. The industrial sector often uses metal storage sheds or metal garages to house heavy machinery, ready to ship products, raw materials and the equipment that is used to create products within a warehouse or workshop.

Metal Storage Sheds Used Everywhere

As you can plainly read, metal storage sheds are versatile and have the ability to be beneficial across the areas of residential, commercial, agricultural and industrial storage. So the next time you hear the words, “metal storage shed,” what will come to your mind?

Steel Barns – Practical Storage Solutions

Steel BarnsThere’s no doubt that the traditional red wooden barn still holds a special charm. However, when you’re looking for a practical storage solution, modern steel barns rule the roost. Besides sheltering livestock, feed and farm equipment, a contemporary metal barn is a versatile building. It can serve as garage, car port, recreational area and venue for weddings, parties, and much more. There are many factors that go to make a steel barn a popular cover.

Steel storage buildings are durable. Built with strong galvanized steel frames and roofing, these barns last for years and require little maintenance unlike their wooden counterparts. Steel walls and concrete floors are much easier to clean than a wooden structure.

Gone are the days of dusty, cramped horse barns. Modern metal barns are spacious and well-ventilated, and built to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Unlike wood, steel is not susceptible to pests like termites and rodents. Steel buildings also offer excellent protection from rain, snow, strong winds and other such elements. They will not rust or rot.

Metal barns are available in an easy to install, pre-fabricated packages and can be set up in a short time. Prefabricated structures are designed to meet regional differences in weather, air quality and stabling practices. Another option is to ask an experienced storage building company to custom build your steel barn, though this is likely to cost more than a prefab building. You can choose from various sizes, roof design, side wall, and trim color options. You can build your barn to accommodate potential requirements or even modify it at a later stage to accommodate your growing needs.
